The most nominated movies of the night performed very poorly. 

 

These 3 were the top 4 most nominated movies. 

The Favourite (10 noms)

A Star Is Born (8 noms)

Vice (8 noms)

 

They just won 1 oscar each. 

 

Best performing movie was perhaps Bohemian Rhapsody winning 4 out of the 5 it was nominated for.

Green Book was probably my favorite among the nominee I saw, so not that big of a surprise for me.

Green Book's Best Picture win is disappointing in a year where BlacKkKlansman, The Favourite, Roma, and A Star is Born were all nominated.

 

Also disappointing is the inevitable headline:

 

"Bohemian Rhapsody the Biggest Winner with Four Oscar Wins"

 

-Roma would have tied with the Best Picture win

-Black Panther would have tied with the Best Picture win

So comic book movies continue to get snubbed for the non-technical awards at the oscars again I see. The more things change the more they remain the same. smh

What a trash ending. And it started off so well. Can’t be too upset though with BP’s 3 well deserved wins, ASIB’s win for Shallow, and Spider-Verse! Mostly positive on this year’s Oscars.

I am not of those finding Green Book super offensive or anything but it's a movie having no place in the same conversation as The Favourite, A Star Is Born, Roma and BKKKM. It's a distant 5th though so could have been worse, I guess....

Green Books win may also be a causational effect of the way the ballots are counted. Not saying it wouldnt have won otherwise, but having others votes added due to ranking as we all know changes the game.
