So with this weekend's performance, it looks like $200 million is back off the table? Maybe $180-$185 million domestic with decent legs?

And overseas, it's not looking to great. Probably will do about the same overseas than in North America. So a WW total of under $400 million?

That's not all that great, is it? This has already been a crazy rollercoaster ride for this film at the BO.

Still could Cross $ 200M

But let’s say it will make just $ 42M more on US for an $ 181M total

The movie gross $ 38M OS this week, so it could gross at least another $ 55-65M from this markets

And $ 45-50M from Japan

I don’t see this falling below $ 400M WW, it will be profitable, just far away than expectations.

Cinderella did about 470m outside China, under that for MPR would not be too great.

I imagine that with hindsight Cinderella but domestic heavier could have been a really good comparable for some to go by.

I don't really know how else Disney is supposed to market this film. what did WB do differently?

Better trailers maybe, use of music wise ?

Really hard to tell, Disney is so strong at monetizing stuff, it is really domestic heavy has of now and obviously 0 from China and depend how much that very strong group of producer, director and so on are getting before break even point if anything.

Could be a bit under $210M or some first dollar gross could push it at 315M...., not sure what level of precision is possible to say when we are not in the knows of those variable even in a rough way.

Many musical went really high in Japan recently & Disney tend to do very well in that market.

Families and People over 30 are probably enough to make this movie a big hit... teenages and young adults could be convinced to watch based on WOM, it’s a christmas movie, it doesn’t need a mega debut to have a huge total.

I think $ 300M is the goal, and could be higher if the movie is really good

My predictions:

Poppins: $ 400M (i’m confident)

Aquaman: $ 270M

Spiderverse: $ 160M

Bumblebee: $ 140M

Mortal Enginees: $ 60M

I don’t know what expect for Alita, i want it to be huge but marketing wasn’t good

I'm lowering my prediction from 580m to 450m DOM because the trailer wasn't out of this world. 1b WW is still happening, though.

Mark my words, this movie is going to blow up on all fronts.

Box office wise I think it’s headed to $400 million plus territory domestic.

As for Oscars... if it’s as good as the buzz then we could be talking 7 or 8 nominations easy.

All the signs points to a massive performance... young kids and YA doesn't need to know mary poppins to see a TV spot, find interest and go to the theaters, especially with the obvious critical acclaim, it's the perfect holiday movie

Saw this movie.

Hated it.

However, the more I think about it, the more I could see Lin Manuel as The Emcee and Blunt as Sally in a modern take on Cabaret.

The original with Minelli is such a sacred, iconic, untouchable property that a movie remake will never happen, I bet, but I am intrigued about the possibility of Blunt and Miranda paired again in something raunchy, baudy, and decadently, unapologectically sexual.

Interesting since the film takes so many liberties with the original material that a down-the-line version of the actual stage show would almost seem like a completely different movie.

I don't think you'd be touching Minelli's performance specifically since she doesn't play anything like the actual Sally Bowles as she's written.

I think it may put off some Americans who are attached to the original, but actually WW I would agree with you that this would be a good idea in terms of Blunt and she would really pull it off. Don't know about Miranda's non-naturalistic chops though, not many actors in the US are trained that heavily outside of the Stanislavski system other than in some specialist courses, and a proper version of the Emcee needs an outstanding gestic performer.

EDIT: Though if I could pick any Sally Bowles I'd go with Isla Fisher. That lady has been so appallingly underserved relative to her skill set.
