What’s driving the redditbros to attack this ones Audience Score?

I get TLJ ruined their childhoods with diversity, and BP destroyed their all white avengers fantasy.  But this one’s 1960s nostalgia, that should be right up their ally.

The score is being driven down by the fact that everything about it, including Emily Blunt, sucks.

As a director Rob Marshall did a good job capturing the look and feel of this film but my God was he let down by a bland screenplay and very forgettable songs. Emily Blunt was fantastic but I think the most valuable players were the kids. All in all this movie was not bad but it was just very forgettable.

Why do I get the feeling that a number of people who downvoted it earlier are salty teenage/preteen boys who wish they were spending Christmas Day watching Aquaman three times but instead are being forced by their families to watch a sequel to a musical from over 50 years ago about a magical nanny lmao?

Either those preteen/teenage boys has no lives or they can’t accept the fact that these kinds of family-films are something that older audiences & younger audiences are more into (ergo: their younger siblings/cousins & parents/grandparents. Those audiences are more into the ”feel-good & timeless” movies rather than your typhical action/CGI-blockbuster.

Collider: "So the next time you see a film got a certain CinemaScore, keep in mind that it’s not a measure of the film’s quality or even what audiences as a whole think about a movie. It’s a measure of marketing, and how well expectations lined up with the finished feature." (January 19, 2018)

It is true that it is a lot about marketing for non franchise movie, for sequels obviously much less people already know what whats. But I am really not sure why the So and conclusion when looking at those numbers.

Average of all the 4 score (Critics and audience) by cinemascore on that list of Disney movie

A+: .86

A : .81

A-: .68

B+: .54

B : .49

B-: .43

When there is such strong clear pattern correlation between the RT critic score and AUdience score with cinemascore.

It is true that a Drive/Boogie Nights getting a bad cinemascore is marketing getting audience surprised by the product in the theater, but in case of Disney products, the proposition tend to be so clear or so well establish products that the correlation will be strong, specially for their franchise outing.

$4.8 million opening day. Ouch!

$220 million domestic at the highest is what I'm seeing. That's not bad, but it has to get there.

I think this movie could do less than 200 mil. Imo, it really has a chance to play out like Enchanted and Into the Woods. Grease should be safe for now from losing it's second highest grossing musical spot.

Geez this thread is weird. People are obsessed with the RT audience score for some reason. That score will be fine. Also Poppins isn't a fanboy movie there is not a big conspiracy against it one way or the other. That opening day is whatever, lets give it a chance and see what the legs are like before going into doom and gloom mode, shall we?
