Yeah, Meg is definitely hitting it big.  I think this might bode well for the new Godzilla and Kong v Godzilla movies, as people evidently are still into monster movies (Rampage may have had a chance to if it wasn't releasing a week or two before IW).

Do we know the saturday gross or are we guessing. If not, I'm sensing a small decline from friday to saturday. If not, then anywhere from 42 to 47 is a possibility.

#1 is going to be a veeeeeeeeery close race between The Meg and CRA next weekend. Right now, I think The Meg will win because of CRA being a Wednesday opener

'close to 17' would be around 35% bump from true friday. bigger than mi6's 30% bump.

Meg dom over China total looks very likely.

 

edit: even the dom ow could beat China ow. looking at China thread Meg needs 20% Sun drop or lower to do 45+ fss (which is feasible) and that may not be enough to beat dom ow.

no idea why it is having such a massive increase today.  maybe the Jason Statham factor somehow crossed over well with the King Kong audience.  the last 2 months of trailers seemed like they were selling it as a umbrella beach side stakeout shark fest.

Wow, this is truly a breakout now. Im glad as i liked it enough and love shark movies in general. If this is a real success worldwide, chances are high were getting more of them

even godzilla legs (which were ironically tiny) take it to 97-99 dom with a 45-46 ow. rampage legs gives it 125-130.

 

115 dom + 95 china (~2*ow) + 175 os (blind guess) = 385 ww

gives approx theatrical revenue of 162 (115*0.55 + 95*0.43 + 175*0.33)

 

Rampage was 150 (99.3*0.55 + 156*0.25 + 170*0.33 = 425+ ww) on 120 prod buget.

Who have thought The Meg would be WB’s biggest three day opening opening this year or that it would beat Rampage’s opening which on paper looked like the bigger hit.
