If this winds up surpassing BW domestic total not sure anyone could have foreseen that turn of events.

If anything, BW overperformed especially PA considered. The film would have been a MONSTER if it had come out in 2013-2017 period when the character was at the peak of her popularity, pre Ghost in the Shell/"I should play a tree" era ScarJo souring opinions on her and before Wonder Woman/Captain Marvel took advantage of the novelty of female superhero movies.

Still though, ScarJo has a strong case against PA and its impact on the box office. Second weekend of Shang-Chi should be very interesting for her lawyers.

There are a few goal posts coming up. Disney has two pure theatrical windowed releases: 20th Century’s Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy next weekend which is looking like $19M, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings over Labor Day. If Shang-Chi can beat the robust Labor Day 4-day of Guardians of the Galaxy ($22.9M 4th-weekend), I’d say business is pretty good.

Skywalker‘s 6-day stands at  $258.8M, which is -7% behind Last Jedi over the same period of time. That pic finaled with $620.1M domestic.
