If you think The Lion King and BP are similar, I have some interesting news for you about the stories of Joseph and Moses from the Bible, and a couple of Shakespeare's works.  These are all major tropes repeated in many stories over thousands of years. They are just done well here and told in interesting ways, but it isn't like it's a new story.

Just got back from it. Christ this movie is going to be huge. Audience applause at the end. 

Personally I found it a mixed bag, but better than I thought it would be. Worth seeing for sure.

They do what they're doing later this year... direct sequels to these remakes. 

If they wanted to, they could sneak a legitimate cinematic remake universe into existence. First they start with Maleficent sequel, then they do a Beauty and the Beast part 2, then they make Nala: The Lion Queen starring Beyonce, so on and so forth, etc. etc.... and then start the crossovers between the universes.... and then. THEN.
