Sure b/c audiences have short memories.

Like forgetting about Connery quipping in the increasingly goofy Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever.

i'm talking about those that probably haven't even seen the pre-craig flicks. he's been bond for such a long time at this point. those familiar with the franchise i think those last two especially are infamous for their goofs.  (you only live twice easily the best bond song though)

Just bring back the ridiculous gadgets please.

i definitely think the next take will be lighter since that's what's in right now. the bond movies always follow trends and craig was such a Jason Bourne/Jack Bauer riff to start with, that's not really relevant anymore so he's changed a bit. but yeah the next guy will be full quips

the mission impossible movies are also becoming more serialized but that's working for them so it's not an inherently bad idea. it's just that here all roads lead to spectre a bloated corpse of a movie. i don't think exploring his psyche has worked because he's always been a thin character and trying to dive deep into him just reveals that even more.

when the next actor reverts the character back to quippy goofy brosnan/moore mode do you think young fans who are only especially familiar with craig's more brooding take will complain about Bond being "marvelized"?

Agreed with this. Feels like the series went to the "Is Bond too old" well very early with Skyfall. There was no way to come back from that plot point.

The trailer looks decent but feels like riffs on things we have seen before. The Waltz part of the trailer reminded me of the Fallout trailer opening.

Yeah there was a lot of whiplash from young Bond in 2006 to old Bond in 2012 back to prime Bond in 2015 and then back to old Bond in 2020.

Of course Craig's tenure has given us two of the best Bonds ever, so even with the two duds, it still has been a solid hit rate by Bond standards.

good trailer. Like that it's not just retconning the previous installment

trailer seems to be getting a positive response

I think this is increasing from Spectre. The 4 and a half year gap has made people hungry for a new Bond movie and people will want to see Craig's swan song since they really liked him in the role. 250m domestic and 1 billion worldwide

Me too. That said they should have recast bond with this despite me really liking Casino Royale and Skyfall. This will go down for sure from Spectre. But will still be profitable considering how big Bond is in OS markets.

I’m not so sure it will go down you know.
been nearly five years, plus it’s right before summer with an Easter to play and no rival action movie for a month.

Overseas I can only see this doing even better than Spectre. Domestically maybe about the same? It’ll be there or thereabouts.

Looks good, I'm curious how it'll fare in the Spring as this is the first Bond film to not release in October/November in quite some time.

It'll be interesting to see if Universal gets to continue with Bond after this film as I believe this distribution deal is only for NTTD

Most of the United Artists Releasing-distributed films in 2019 have been distributed internationally by Universal.

I think they might sign for more Bond films too.

Gotta say-I liked the trailer. Can't wait for April 3! Five more months before we start arguing about who should be the next Bond and who should direct it next.

Looks like an awesome action packed visual ride. Malik is doing his own thing, which so no surprise since he has the license to do so after the Oscar win. Gonna be a fun time at the theaters. Better than the Black Widow trailer. However, that will get better reviews than this for the obvious reasons.
