Gonna hard to be a commercial failure with a 100 mil budget this movie will still do huge numbers in China

100M was the qualified expenditure in California alone.

$137M according to Deadline's RNG.

That make more sense.

It already earned around $60M from the deal between Paramount & Tencent Pictures.

That sound like a really good deal for them, how much the movie would have to do at the CBO for Paramount to loose significant money here, over 200m USD ?

A minimum-guarantee deal has been made. Paramount can get $60M no matter how much it will do in China. Maybe Paramount can get more if it tops $180M in China.

So you're saying that Bumblebee needs to make 240M to justify Paramount already getting 60M (25% x 240) from the deal?

No. Tencent got the right of distribution & streaming media service in China. $180M in box office will be fine for them(though I still think it's too high). At this moment, it looks like it can do $70M-plus on opening weekend.

I am also curious, I imagine that while the American studio get 23% or so net, the buyer does not necessarily get the same amount specially if the buyer are exhibitors and it could include post theatrical rights, making that figure quite lower.

But maybe the movie needs to make 240M for the deal to become a bad one for Paramount too, making obvious why they would take it.

Well I’m speechless because that was absolutely fantastic.I loved it so much.I want to adopt Bumblebee ani Steinfield was absolutely incredible.I said this once again as a thought but now I totally feel it...I will accept no other pairing with Bumblebee if a sequel ever happens(and this is actually the first time i’m Hoping I get a sequel to a TF movie). You are just so invested with the main characters and their relationship.Hell I could say I got a bit emotional. It has more heart than any TF has the right to have.

Eh...I was much more impressed with Aquaman this weekend. Should have known something was up, with all the critics liking a CGI-fest.

Very SLOW...they were going too hard for Rotten Tomatoes points. It's more of a teen/highschool/YA romance movie, that just happened to have some Bumblebee scenes in it. It fully becomes a transformers movie at the VERY end. I guess you can include the Cybertron intro.

There was a giggly, Marvel Studios type audience. Okay, it was a joke, meant to be funny-but it wasnt THAT funny 🙂

If you're going to the theaters tomorrow, I'd suggest Aquaman first.
