The release date is also so bad, right after Bond, Venom and Halloween. We'll know how unhappy WB is if they put out "it underperformed there too" statements like they did with The Suicide Squad and In the Heights.

Maggie
So, the HBO Max for this year's movies makes more sense now. Most of WB's slate is baaad. HBO max is allowing them to save face

Warmaster506
WB has massive problems that HBOmax is masking right now. Still I hope I enjoy Dune.
titanic2187
Drawing comparison against 2001 doesn't scream like big money maker. And if the movie pacing is slower, HBO max will be a even bigger issue since people tend to fast forward the scene if they find it going slow , thereby diluting the viewing experience. Last Man Standing
It's on RT right now, with a pretty average 80%, and a high 7.9 average rating.

WittyUsername
Looks like WB’s most definitive crowdpleaser of the year is going to end up being Godzilla vs. Kong.

Though they keep preferential ballot for choosing the winner which makes a win tough for a movie like Dune. 6 minutes ago, Ryan Reynolds said: Jessica is the heart of the book so happy to see the movie gets it right. Even with worse reviews, the movie still has more going for it. Easily would've beat BR2049 especially with December.
Madhuvan
Saw some mixed reviews out of the gate. Didn't expect that. Dune is really hard to adapt.
Merkel
Considering the troubled history in adapting this property, these are by far the best reviews a Dune adaption has ever gotten
Warmaster506
WB is becoming as moronic as Paramount at this point haha.
titanic2187
The average rating is unusual high for a 80% film. The other one that I can remember being this unusual is Joker, where it has 7.3/10 against 68% RT score
Lucas
MetaCritic started at 68 but has now gone up 77.

Likely to dip but I would imagine it'll be abnormally high compared to whatever percentage it ultimately lands at.

Saul Goodman
Yeah film twitter and reddit surely overhyped this. With many mixed reviews coming in, don't see it being loved by the GA much.
