Godfather II and Dog Day are his best work. Even his turn in Glengary Glen Ross is better than his terrible Scent of a WHOOmHan performance

Audiences were different in the past... sitting through 3 hour adult dramas like The Firm and Scent of a Women lol

if Joker proves anything it's that people will still show up for a movie like scent of a woman you've just gotta turn the lawyer into daredevil and the kid into spider-man

I think audiences will watch more 'grown up films' but they need to be based on visuals to draw in people like Interstellar and Inception and have a novel concept.

How did Al Pacino not win for Godfather part 2 oof

Too young, same character he'd played already, plus from what I've read, he didn't like being placed in Supporting Actor for the first Godfather, so skipped attending the Oscars that year. Not the sort of thing to endear you to voters. Tough category, Pacino is in good company with all the other nominees who also lost to Art Carney.

Over $13m in previews, impressive, hope it's not too frontloaded.

I think that goes to my point that in the end a legendary performance does not need an oscar to go down in film history as a great performance.
