The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

30% the level and 25% the pace would point around 4M previews or below. Of course looking at several days of MTC1+MTC2 will give better results than a single day of MTC2, so still thinking about 5M.

Thing is that Joker also overperformed big time at MTC1 (though not sure if it was to the same extent as BOP is doing). Idk. I just am not having a great feeling about this. The bumps are not what I would have wanted. Hopefully the review drop helps things.

Edit: The ratios are closer to normal on Friday. That may be a better comp with Joker. Giving it somewhat better bumps it will finish with ~3.2 million in OD PS. With Joker's multiple that would be about 10.6 million pure OD, I guess it would probably go a bit higher than that.

I just really want BOP do to huge Domestic. Already lost hope for overseas.

Gotham City Sirens is very anticipated for me personally.

I hoped for GCS too, but Margot was asked who she’d like in a sequel on GMA and she responded “Poison Ivy and Oracle” so maybe Catwoman is off limits with the Batman film

A couple of hours before release I can now safely say that presales for this in Greece are...chaotic.Bad to the point that if I had to put a number on it, I would say that tickets sold by genuine interest in the film are like...15?20?

Surely there is a near sold out showing and one near sold out but that still awful for a film debuting in a Wednesday. Wednesday is basically Cinema day for Greeks as it’s discount day.People see whatever they can find and there is also spillover effect for some movies benefiting from a bigger movie being sold out.

Even  for some showings that are in demand the showing are like 60% full.Ok Greece is not a country that is PS driven (Joker for instance had ok-ish presales, selling hardly a very small fraction than what Endgame did, which was a monster in ps, but now Joker is 2019’s champion, the most attended film of the decade and among the most successful in the market of all time). But, imo, this one won’t benefit from good wom that much.

It had zero advertising other than a couple of tv spots  playing late at night. It’s like WB didn’t even bother. And I know it very anecdotal but I informed a friend of mine, who is a fan of everything Batman, just yesterday about the film and he didn’t know anything.

In any case, things are not looking pretty for this.At this point I think it goes well below Shazam.

I was expecting a little more due to popularity of harley, but this is just preview night.

Like i said earlier im wanting to see how wom affects legs. This Type imo people will want to hear friends and family reaction. First weekend i still expect harley/dc/robbi fans to catch it. Its how that translates im interested to see

Even with a lackluster opening weekend, I wonder if Valentine's day/second weekend could make back the money the movoe will lose on OW due to poor marketing and skepticsm from the GA. Like would a sub 40% drop be possible? Looking back at the years when Valentine's day came on a weekend, I think its possible.

With lack of competition even sub 30% is possible.

Reviews are great.

I also would bet that Warners  wants Barbara Gordon as Batgirl which would rule Oracle Out.

Quite the anomaly at Highlands Ranch. It sold more in the past day than Birds of Prey.

I'll do a closer analysis tomorrow night when I have less homework and deadlines and more data, but from what I'm seeing 5M previews seems about right, give or take 0.5M. If walk-ups are horrible tomorrow, that # will go down considerably. If they're great, it'll go up of course.

Daughter really broke her leg good. Cast to her thigh for 3 weeks, then smaller one for 3 more. Yikes

Being in a cast as a child sucks, hopefully she has a hobby like reading, watching TV/movies or video games that will help pass the time. Wishing her a speedy recovery

Children notoriously hate having to watch TV and movies
