Top 30 films of 1989 (baumer's favourite year)IMDB is the source...if it's 1989 on IMDb it qualifies...Aug 25th is deadline

Recommended Posts

So @grim22 just finished 1999 where we got  a record number of entries.  I know 1989 is before many of you were born, but there are so many great movies to come out that year.  This is before Pixar, before Marvel, after Star Wars ended and the dawning of a new super hero phase.

It was the year I got my license, the year I saw Last Crusade 13X at the theatre and the year my girlfriend broke up with me because on opening night of Last Crusade, we were at the drive in.  She wanted to get frisky, I wanted to watch the movie.  Great memories.  :)

So the deadline to send me and Grim your list is August 25th.  I will do the countdown starting on the Monday.  Make sure you send the lists to both me and Grim.  It will be the same calculations as Grim's 1999 list.

89 was a fun year, my personal favourite.  Try to catch up on some of the films you have not seen.  For reference, here is the top 30 grossing films of 89:

I think Deas Poets Society and The Little Mermaid are the only popular ones I've seen all the way through. But both of those are classics that deserve high placement!

Does it matter where in the world a movie premiered, like in @grim22's list?

You can choose whatever movie you want to but it has to be listed as a 1989 movie on boxofficemojo.com
